Laiterie de l'Outaouais can pursue its growth, increase productivity and develop new products

Government of Canada grants more than $380,000 in financial assistance to Laiterie de l'Outaouais

GATINEAU, QC, Nov. 28, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

By investing in the production capacity of enterprises, the Government of Canada is standing by its commitments and helping businesses expand, innovate and export their products to create high-quality jobs and ensure the prosperity of our national and regional economies.

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, Steven MacKinnon, Member of Parliament for Gatineau and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced that Laiterie de l'Outaouais Inc. has been granted $382,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution, to ensure its growth.

Founded in 2007, the business started production in 2010 and now has 28 employees. It produces pasteurized milk in various formats, chocolate milk, cream, butter and lactose-free milk. The dairy has over 270 points of sale in Outaouais (big box, grocery and corner stores) and has even made some inroads in Ottawa. The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program will help the business acquire new equipment and develop new products.

Quotes

"This project is yet another testament to the ability of Outaouais businesses to set themselves apart from the competition and think outside the box. The acquisition of strategic equipment, the development of new products and the purchase of the building that houses the dairy's facilities mean great news for the growth and vitality of the Gatineau and Outaouais economies. These investments will help our region increase its visibility in food processing, a promising economic sector here and abroad."

Steven MacKinnon, Member of Parliament for Gatineau and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement

"The Government of Canada is determined to support Canadian businesses that want to expand and develop new products. As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to success in that it generates growth that benefits businesses and communities. Our goal in supporting Laiterie de l'Outaouais's project is to collaborate in order to deliver on our commitments and get results for Canadians."

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
