Optimum Seismic Announces New Industry Newsletter, 'Seismic Waves'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Optimum Seismic, Southern California's leading earthquake retrofit company, today announced the official release of its new industry newsletter, "Seismic Waves."

The monthly publication features the latest news and information associated with earthquakes, their threat to communities and the various steps being taken to enhance the resiliency of cities throughout California.

The information provided will relay important updates to assist building owners, real estate professionals, mortgage bankers, architects, engineers and public officials in assessing the risks faced by California communities and the steps that can be taken to build resiliency on a micro- and macro-economic level.

The U.S. Geological Survey estimates that a 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Southern California would result in more than 1,800 deaths, 50,000 injuries and $200 billion in damage, with long-lasting social and economic impacts. Many of the buildings lost in this scenario would represent a disproportionate percentage of the region's affordable housing stock.

"Education about the threats and solutions associated with this problem is a major step to building resilient communities that can withstand a major quake," said Optimum Seismic COO Ali Sahabi. "That's the goal of this newsletter: To provide information on everything from the science behind earthquakes and the structural approaches to retrofits, to the policy being implemented to make our cities safer.

"Ultimately," he added, "it's about saving lives, preserving social order and protecting quality of life for all earthquake prone regions."
