Minister McKenna to attend GLOBE Forum 2018 in Vancouver


OTTAWA, March 14, 2018 /CNW/ - Addressing climate change is the critical issue of our time. We must ensure the long-term health of our environment and build an economy in which Canadians can thrive as the world transitions to a lower-carbon future.

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, is travelling to Vancouver to attend the GLOBE Forum 2018 and meet with business leaders working to advance the transition to a clean-growth economy.

On March 14, 2018, Minister McKenna will make an announcement related to the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. On March 15, 2018, she will deliver remarks at an event hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. Minister McKenna will also participate in the GLOBE Climate Leadership Awards ceremonies while at the three-day forum.

The GLOBE Forum's overarching theme "Disrupting Business as Usual" and subtheme "Ocean Health" align well with the Government of Canada's commitment to engaging with Canadian and international climate change stakeholders ahead of the upcoming G7 Leaders' Summit, in June 2018.

Following the GLOBE Forum, Minister McKenna will travel to Victoria, British Columbia?on March 16, 2018?for an announcement related to the Government of Canada's commitment to protecting nature and oceans and investing in marine research.
