Media Advisory - Minister McKenna to announce "Greening Campuses" program and provides update on Randle Reef clean-up

From Environment and Climate Change Canada

HAMILTON, ON, April 4, 2018 /CNW/ - The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will be in Hamilton on April 5, 2018.

At McMaster University, Minister McKenna along with a representative from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, will discuss an on-campus greenhouse gas emissions reduction program. The program will help universities and colleges in Ontario make buildings more energy efficient.

The "Greening Campuses" program is part of the Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) initiative. Canada's and Ontario's investment in LCEF are providing support to campuses to save money by saving energy.

Students from McMaster will also give the Minister a tour of the University's Gas Turbine Cogeneration Plant. Cogeneration will improve energy efficiency on the campus, reducing the need for new power generation in the Province.
