Media Advisory - Canada Day in Canada's Capital Region
Centred on the themes of Reconciliation, Canadian Women and Canada's Diversity and Inclusion, this year's Canada Day program promises to be an enriching experience for all participants.
OTTAWA and GATINEAU, QC, June 29, 2018 /CNW/ - Canada Day celebrations in Canada's Capital Region will be kicking off on Saturday with a full day of programming at Major's Hill Park from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The festivities will then be spreading over to Parliament Hill and the Canadian Museum of History on Sunday.
Join us at on Parliament Hill at 8 a.m. on Sunday for a First Nation protocol ceremony and special artistic performances at the Centennial Flame at 9 a.m. Stick around for an energizing musical experience on stage by Samajam at 9:30.
A crowd favourite, the Inspection of the Guard will take place at 11:40 a.m. at the Peacekeeping Monument, followed by a 21-Gun Salute in honour of our Canadian Armed Forces, veterans and fallen Canadians.
Join our hosts Lisa Charleyboy and Marième for an exciting noon show filled with top Canadian performing artists. Lisa and Marième will be back to host the evening show, where noon show artists will be joined by other well-known Canadian artists to perform some of their songs in collaboration for the first time.
Don't go anywhere, because this year's President's Choice Musical Firework Show is sure to once again amaze you. This spectacular show will also feature a 100-percent Canadian soundtrack.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The entrance for media will be at the Parliament Hill pedestrian entrance at the intersection of Bank and Wellington streets.
Media representatives will require Canada Day accreditation to access all designated media areas on Parliament Hill on July 1.
All camera positions in the designated media areas will be equipped with a hard-wired audio program feed.
Canadian Heritage complies with and abides by Industry Canada regulations on the use of wireless frequencies. The use of wireless equipment (for instance, microphones, cameras or intercom systems) that interferes with or impedes Canadian Heritage's pre-authorized frequency channels will not be permitted on Parliament Hill from June 29 to July 1, 2018 inclusively.
