Veteran Services Organization, Lone Survivor Foundation, Welcomes New Executive Director

HOUSTON, Aug. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of Lone Survivor Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Barber as the organization's next Executive Director, following the retirement of prior Executive Director, Terry Jung.

Kevin Barber assumes the role of Executive Director after serving as an Advisory Board Member from 2014 to 2017, and as a member of the Board of Directors since January 2018. Kevin comes to the Foundation with 20 years of energy and trading experience and a proven passion for working with Veteran Services Organizations. Kevin is the founder of Veteran Energy, LLC, a retail electricity provider, and 95 Bravo Resources, LLC, a wholesale energy services company. Prior to his extensive career in the energy-trading arena, he earned an honorable discharge from the US Army, where he served in the 1st Military Police Company of the 1st Infantry Division as a K-9 patrol dog handler. Barber holds a B.A. in Political Science from State University of New York (SUNY), and an A.A.S in Criminal Justice from SUNY-Adirondack. He is a founding member of the Combined Arms Houston Board of Directors and the past Chairman of the Lone Star Veterans Association. In April 2017, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Barber as Commissioner to the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) where he serves as Secretary for a term set to expire December 31, 2022. The TVC serves as the state-appointed advocate of Texas veterans as they attempt to secure the benefits rightfully earned in exchange for their service in our nation's armed forces.

Outgoing Executive Director, Terry Jung, has been appointed as Honorary Executive Director in honor of his years of distinguished service to Lone Survivor Foundation. Terry served as Executive Director from March 2012 through announcing his retirement in May 2018. Terry will continue to provide support during the transition through his official retirement date in February 2019. Terry served in the US Navy as an EMO and CIC Officer until receiving an honorable discharge. He then completed a Master's degree in Accounting at the University of Texas and went on to have a successful career as an executive in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. His experience in healthcare, investment and commercial banking, broadcasting, education and consulting prepared him to guide the Lone Survivor Foundation towards excellence and stability.

"Terry has worked tirelessly to promote LSF for the past six years and his dedication has positioned LSF as a premier healing organization for our Veterans. The Board of Directors would like to thank Terry for his service, and we look forward to continuing to refine and expand our program services with Kevin at the helm," said LSF Board President, Tim Byrom.
