VFR Healthcare Will Partner with Camp Resilience to Support Vets

MANCHESTER, N.H., Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VFR Healthcare (VFR) and the non-profit Patriot Resilient Leader Institute (PRLI), signed a Memorandum of Agreement on October 12. The two organizations will jointly work to develop PRLI's program of supportive retreats for Veterans.

The PRLI program of 3-4 day retreats, called Camp Resilience is based in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and provides sports, adventure activities, facilitated peer-to-peer counseling, and life skills programs for wounded warriors.

VFR is a national Veteran-owned and -operated program treating Veterans, first responders, their families and caretakers, who are dealing with substance use and mental health issues. VFR offers peer-to-peer outpatient programs with a widely-respected clinical staff. VFR is part of the Strive Health Network and shares the Network's treatment approach.

VFR, together with Strive Health, will contribute staff, expertise, and offer Camp Resilience's unique experience as part of its programs. The two groups are planning specialized retreats geared to the needs of VFR clients.

LTC, US Army (Ret) Kurt Webber, President and co-founder of PRLI said:

"VFR/Strive Health offer Veteran-oriented treatment expertise that can greatly help our Camp Resilience attendees. We are confident that our combined resources will help Veterans tremendously."

Camp Resilience Workshops

Camp Resilience has held workshops on anger management, mindfulness, sleep issues, PTSD, and Military Sexual Trauma, and many other issues affecting Vets of all eras. Outdoor experiential/sports activities such as kayaking, sailing and hiking in the summer and snowshoeing and skiing in the winter play a big role. More than 35 retreats have been held since 2014, attended by over 350 Veterans and in some cases, their spouses, caregivers or children.

The need for support, including mental health treatment for Veterans is growing sharply. As one indicator: the by the US Veterans Administration's Veterans Crisis Line now receives a staggering 950 calls every day from Veterans in distress. (To reach the VA Crisis Line call 1-800-273-8255, then Press 1).

Eric Golnick, co-founder and CEO of VFR commented:

"We have a huge amount of respect for the dedication of Camp Resilience in support of our Veterans. We believe our partnership with this grass-roots program will be invaluable in guiding Veterans who are re-integrating into their communities."

Eric Frieman, co-founder of VFR and CEO of Strive Health, pointed out:

"We look forward to working in partnership with Patriot Resilient Leadership Institute. Thanks to this new partnership, we will be able to offer our clients a unique experience to strengthen their recovery and resilience."
