The Cohen Veterans Network Announces Major Expansion in 2019

STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Moving to fulfill a $275 million commitment from financier-philanthropist Steven A. Cohen to help reduce veteran suicide and care for military families, the Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) will open its 11th clinic in Tacoma Washington, followed by clinics in three more cities later this year.

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Valley Cities in Tacoma, WA, will hold a public opening in the near future, and later in 2019 CVN will open new clinics in Tampa, FL, Virginia Beach, VA, and San Diego, CA. In addition, CVN is exploring partners for new clinics in Honolulu, HI, Anchorage, AK, and at least one other city this year.

Mr. Cohen created CVN in 2016 to help stem the epidemic of suicide our veterans face. By 2021, CVN is expected to have 25 clinics open nationwide.

CVN was founded with a commitment to provide high-quality mental health care for issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, transition challenges, and more. Treatment is available for any post-9/11 veteran who has served in the United States Armed Forces, regardless of role, discharge status, or combat experience. This includes services for the National Guard and Reserves as well.

"We welcome the entire military family," Dr. Hassan said. "When a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Coast Guardsmen, or Marine serves, their families serve with them. To date, nearly half of our clients are family members of someone who served, including the families of current active-duty military."

Cohen Clinics also offer support services to ensure clients have access to care, such as childcare during appointments, transportation assistance to reach the clinics, as well as night and weekend hours. Additionally, the Community Rooms in each Cohen Clinic have become hubs of activity in every location, featuring group therapy and other complimentary opportunities such as art workshops, yoga, and family activities.

CVN also uses telehealth to deliver treatment for clients who can't come in to a clinic. The network launched an online therapy platform in 2017 and video counseling services are offered in every state that has a Cohen Clinic. Ten percent of active CVN clients have had at least one session of care delivered via online therapy.
