Mercedes-Benz Canada reports April sales


TORONTO, May 2, 2019 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported sales of 3,794 passenger vehicles, vans, and smarts in April 2019. The company's luxury light trucks remained the primary volume drivers, with the GLC, GLA and GLE SUVs making up three of Mercedes-Benz Canada's top five sellers for the month, along with the C-Class Sedan and A-Class Hatch.

In April, Mercedes-Benz Canada delivered 3,295 passenger vehicles, including 1,481 cars and 1,814 luxury light trucks. Year-to-date, the company retailed 12,276 passenger vehicles, which consisted of 5,254 cars and 7,022 SUVs. Passenger cars made up 43% of year-to-date sales, while SUVs constituted the remaining 57%.

In April, Mercedes-Benz Vans delivered 480 units, bringing to 1,731 the total number of vehicles sold year-to-date.

Over the course of the month, Mercedes-Benz Canada's Pre-Owned division retailed 1,475 units including 1,281 Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles. April's results led to year-to-date sales of 5,316 for the division, of which 4,341 were CPO. Year-over-year, CPO penetration is up by 2.6%, growing from 79.1% in April 2018 to 81.7% in April 2019.

"Our April sales numbers were affected by limited availability of our most popular passenger cars and SUVs," said Brian D. Fulton, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "We expect to see the supply of high-volume vehicles increase in the months ahead. In the interim, we will continue to work with our dealers to manage the effects of this temporary shortage."
