Memorial Day Parade with a Pride of LIONS

SPRINGFIELD, Va., May 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- LIONS Clubs from Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia will march down Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC on May 28th at this year's National Memorial Day Parade. Local Lion's Club Banners will denote the name of the club, which will also denote the community which they serve.

Lions were established in 1917, and will be celebrating our 102nd Anniversary this year. The float proudly displays the new Centennial Logo.

Lions collect and recycle eyeglasses and distribute them to people in need all over the world. We would like to encourage you to recycle your used eyeglasses. There will be a Lions Club Vehicle on 7th Street near Constitution Avenue where you may drop off used eyeglasses. You can also find eyeglass recycle boxes in many locations. Contact your local Lions Club for exact locations.

The goal of Lions Clubs International is to reach out to veterans and offer them the opportunity to become part of our organization and give back to their communities. "Additionally Lions will be paying special tribute to and honoring all Veterans and particularly those heroes who made the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives for their country."

Many of the Lions in the parade are veterans who have served their country honorably and are today still committed to serving their communities through volunteerism, service and education especially for sight and hearing issues. Lion veterans can be identified by the Red, White and Blue Patriotic Sashes they will be wearing.

The Lions Club's float will proudly display the Lions theme for this year, "Beyond the Horizon" alongside the marching Lions. Scheduled to be on the float are Lion Leaders and distinguished veteran Lions who continue to serve their communities in many ways. The Guest Celebrity on the Float this year is scheduled to be the current "Miss America".

Please show your support for the Lion veterans by cheering them on at this year's National Memorial Day Parade and don't forget to recycle your used eyeglasses!
