Rusty Gear Song and Music Video "Rest in Arizona" to Raise Money for Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

NORWALK, Conn., May 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "Rest in Arizona" is a stirring new music video and ballad from American country and southern rock singer-songwriter Rusty Gear. The song was produced by Nashville, TN-based guitarist Tony Sarno, and was recorded at Southern Ground Studios in Nashville. The work is available on YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify and major streaming platforms.

The patriotic ballad tells the story of a United States Navy veteran who survived the sinking of the USS Arizona during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The retired sailor reflects on his service, and in memory of his fallen shipmates, plans, like many other USS Arizona survivors, to have his ashes interred at the site where the ship sank. The USS Arizona Memorial, at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona during the surprise attack.

Proceeds from the song and video will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which builds centers for treating United States military personnel who suffer from the effects of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS).

"My brother told me the story of the survivors of the USS Arizona who over the years have asked to have their ashes placed at the site of the wreck so they can rest with their fallen shipmates. This inspired me to write 'Rest in Arizona' as a tribute to these members of the 'greatest generation,'" said Rusty Gear.

Monies raised by the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund are used to build Intrepid Spirit Centers which provide clinical treatment for service members suffering from TBI and PTS. The specialized care provided in the centers includes many disciplines such as neurology, nutrition, physical therapy, speech and hearing therapy, psychiatry, occupational therapy, speech pathology, neuropsychology, ophthalmology, and nursing, among others, for military personnel. Experts provide care using traditional methods, such as neurological exams, physical therapy and sleep studies, combined with integrated health treatments, including acupuncture, yoga, mindfulness, art and music therapy. This model of care has enabled more than 90% of patients to continue on Active Duty with many of their symptoms reduced or controlled. There are seven Intrepid Spirit Centers operating, with an eighth currently in construction.

Serving on the Board of Directors for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is United States Army General Richard A. Cody, whose 32-year military career included serving as 31st Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (G-3), as well as serving as Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) during Operation Desert Storm.

"You don't have to wear a uniform to serve this country. You can serve by helping the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund take care of those men and women in uniform who have borne the battle for our freedom," said Cody.

"The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund does important work in treating United States military personnel suffering the effects of Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress and it is a privilege to donate the proceeds of 'Rest in Arizona' to this terrific cause," added Gear.
