DATAMARK Inc. Supports Veterans with Carnival Fundraiser

EL PASO, Texas, Aug. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Volunteers from DATAMARK, a leading Business Process Outsourcing company, recently held their annual 4th of July carnival to raise funds for American Patriots at Shadow Mountain Lake. As part of the company's 20-year commitment to volunteerism via the DATAMARK Gives Back program, the employee-established and operated fundraiser brought in significant funds, enabling the veteran support organization to continue enhancing its Shadow Mountain Lake outdoor healing center. For more details on DATAMARK, visit http://www.DATAMARK.net.

The carnival fundraiser is an annual tradition held at DATAMARK's Butterfield location, established to help support American Patriots at Shadow Mountain Lake, a non-profit organization actively creating a venue for the treatment, education, and healthy development of all wounded, injured, and ill veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces on its 4,000-acre property in El Paso.

This year's carnival committee began planning the event months in advance, says Martha Buenrostro, the DATAMARK employee who spearheaded the event. In all, more than 190 employees as well as senior management and corporate officials from DATAMARK, and representatives from American Patriots were in attendance. Those partaking were treated to food, music, and games.

"The big draw is usually the dunk tank," Buenrostro reveals. "Supervisors volunteer and employees purchase a ticket to try to dunk their boss. It's really fun for everyone."

Ceasar Casas, DATAMARK Vice President of Global Operations, volunteers every year. "Quite a bit of the funds raised come from employees purchasing tickets to sink management in a dunking booth, which I have been proud to participate in over the last few years," he adds, but notes that the symbolism of the day is not lost despite the merriment.

"The 4th of July Carnival event at our Butterfield Site has become an exciting tradition that gives the company the opportunity to show our employees that we appreciate them through a day of food and fun in the sun ? all while supporting an important cause," he explains. "For the last two years, this event has served as an opportunity to raise funds for the local organization, American Patriots, whose mission is to provide wellness services to Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces."

Tony Lang, an Army veteran and director of American Patriots at SML sheds further light on the organization's goals. "Our mission is to revive the old Shadow Mountain Lake property and turn it into a national retreat for veterans and their families, offering a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment," he explains. "There is a large population of veterans in our community that struggle on a daily basis from invisible and physical injuries."

Lang says their goals can only be achieved with the support of individuals and companies. "There is something to be said when a corporation such as DATAMARK puts forth the continuing support of a veteran organization," he expressed in an interview while giving nod to the DATAMARK team. "Your efforts have impacted many veterans and their families in the El Paso Community, and allowed them to build, bond, and heal together in a safe and fun setting."
