Western Los Angeles County Council (WLACC), Boy Scouts Of America And The U.S. Department Of Veterans Affairs Join Together To Remember The Fallen With A Special Tribute And Salute
LOS ANGELES, May 21, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles Scouts will join Scouts from around the world, the public, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in honoring our nation's fallen heroes this Memorial Day by posting public tributes and participating in a National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. local time (Pacific) on Memorial Day by saluting the American flag at their home in full Scouting uniform and saying the name of a fallen service member as they would if placing a flag at a grave. Scouts nationwide will then play or sing "Taps" after.
Leading up to Memorial Day, Scouts may also place flags at headstones, as individuals or with members of their family, where regulations and cemeteries allow.
"While our traditional effort of placing almost a 100,000 American flags on our fallen heroes' graves is not possible this year, we can still honor these heroes while keeping in mind the health and safety of all participants, the broader community, and the families of the fallen who choose to visit their loved ones," said David Goldenberg WLACC Flag Placement Chair.
