Sanolla Wins Horizon 2020 Funding to Fight COVID-19 with Early Detection and Monitoring Technology


NESHER, Israel, Sept. 14, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Sanolla, [Formerly: Bat-Call] an Israeli medical device and technology start-up driving artificial intelligence (AI) based innovations in acoustic digital diagnostic systems and healthcare platforms, has been granted EU funding under the Horizon 2020 program to help tackle the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

Following its previous announcement, Sanolla shifted its technology to support the early detection and monitoring of COVID-19 allowing doctors to rapidly assess and diagnose patients with its artificial intelligence based smart auscultation device. Sanolla set up a consortium consisting of seven European entities and companies. As leader of the consortium, Sanolla and its partners have been granted a total of ?5 million funding for the project, under the Horizon 2020 program designed to fight COVID-19.

Achieving a perfect score of 15 out of 15, given by all EU examiners, Sanolla's proposal earned outstanding mention in the program.

Sanolla's technology
Based on its patented AI infra-sound analysis and deep learning classification technologies, Sanolla is providing breakthrough acoustic digital diagnostic systems, to help in the early diagnosis and management of chronic diseases such as pneumonia, asthma, COPD, congestive heart failure, and can now support the early detection and monitoring of COVID-19 patients.

Sanolla's infra-sound acoustic digital diagnostic classifier has shown the following results: 89.3% accuracy in classifying COVID-19 vs. non-COVID-19 subjects. The classifier also achieved 90% detection accuracy of pneumonia patients, compared to an average of 55% with traditional auscultation.
