Author Gerard O'Brien's new book "Gordon's Stroll" is the captivating story of one man's unexpected journey to the past and the important truths he learns

Recent release "Gordon's Stroll" from Page Publishing author Gerard O'Brien follows one man's adventures as he travels back in time and learns the history of Chicopee River and the Native American tribe that lived there. Through his trip to the past, Gordon will be tasked with telling his brethren in his time all that transpired and warn them from allowing history to repeat itself.

INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass., July 13, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Gerard O'Brien, a retired schoolteacher and grandfather, has completed his new book "Gordon's Stroll": an educational story of a man named Gordon Fisk, and his journey back to the past to learn of the events that took place at the Chicopee River, and what occurred to the Native Americans living there.

"Honorable Gordon M. Fisk was a poet, politician, and a publisher from Ludlow and Palmer, Massachusetts," writes O'Brien, setting the scene for his fascinating narrative. "He knew about 'Indian Orchard' because early European settlers discovered plum orchards by the Chicopee River near Ludlow and Springfield. They had to be the 'Indian's orchards' for no one else lived there before, people said. And so perhaps the life of the name began.

"In 1846, Charles McClallan constructed the stone dam on the Chicopee River for the Indian Orchard Canal Company and found stumps of an old plum orchard while drawing down water for the canal.

"Yet Gordon wondered if the Indian Leap legend was true. Indian Orchard has its own Indian Leap Street off Main Street, and the Indian Leap House Hotel stood on Main Street until 1938. Retreating Agawam Indians fleeing Springfield's burning during King Philip's war in 1675 ended up at the Chicopee River in Indian Orchard and Ludlow by the Great Cove. Yet only legend survived about an Indian's Leap."

Published by Page Publishing, Gerard O'Brien's captivating tale will take readers on an unforgettable journey to the past as Gordon encounters a spiritual vision of Wa-ha-waugh, a Native American who serves as Gordon's guide through time. Gaining insightful knowledge of what occurred to the Native Americans that once lived on his land, Gordon sets forth to share this story and educate his fellow brethren so as to commemorate the lives lost and prevent such atrocities from happening again.
