Woods® TurfKeeper® and TurfKeeper Pro® Outperform Competitors in Cut Quality, According to Independent Study

A perfectly manicured lawn is best defined by what's not seen: clumps of cut material, rows of clippings and uneven blades of mown grass. That's why cut quality of a mower is essential to achieving professional looking lawns, grounds and other grassy areas. A recent study by a leading turfgrass management university found that Woods® TurfKeeper® TK60.20 and TurfKeeper Pro® TKP 72.40 rear-mount finish mowers outperformed three competitive brands, including Land Pride® and Bush Hog®, in overall cut quality.

During the study, four different models of 60" standard mowers and 72" commercial mowers were evaluated for cut quality across a mature stand of Dakota tall fescue grass. Researchers experienced in turfgrass management mowed the grass plots on a weekly basis over a period of four and a half months. The research team evaluated the plots according to three cut quality characteristics:

Each mower was scored according to the cut quality characteristics, combining the results for a total score, with the highest score being best.

Thanks to their innovative design, the Woods TurfKeeper and TurfKeeper Pro outperformed other standard and commercial finish mowers in each cut quality characteristic. The mowers' unique baffling design provides superior lift, so the tops of the grass blades receive an even cut. The mowers' deck design incorporates parallel side frames and under-deck baffling that controls the discharge direction of the cut material for more effective material distribution.

"The TurfKeeper and TurfKeeper Pro deliver the results that farmers, groundskeepers, commercial landscapers and large property owners desire from their mowers," said Ed Lang, product manager at Woods. "With more than 75 years in the business, Woods' innovatively designed products continue to lead the way for precision cutting attachments."
