Rivers Casino Portsmouth Announces Grand Opening Date: Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 3:00 P.M.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth officials today announced the $340 million gaming and entertainment venue will open its doors to the public on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. The casino is part of a planned Entertainment District along Victory Boulevard ? just south of I-264.
The Virginia Lottery Board unanimously approved a casino operator's license for Rivers Casino Portsmouth on Nov. 16, 2022. Rush Street Gaming, owners, and operators of the casino, broke ground back in December 2021. Portsmouth voters overwhelmingly approved the casino development by referendum in November 2020.
"We're grateful to the Virginia Lottery Board, the City of Portsmouth, and the Hampton Roads community for their continued support," said Tim Drehkoff, CEO, Rush Street Gaming. "It's been exciting to watch the building go up, and we're eager for the public to see what's inside."
Rivers Casino Portsmouth will feature an expansive gaming floor with 1,448 slot machines, 57 table games, and 24 poker tables in a dedicated poker room. The casino brings ten new restaurants and bars all under one roof, including high-end dining at Admiral's Steak and Seafood, casual dining at Crossings Café and Asian cuisine at Mian; plus, Slice Pizzeria, Starbucks and more.
Just off the gaming floor, Topgolf Swing Suites will overlook the BetRivers Sportsbook, featuring the largest high-def screens in Hampton Roads to watch local, regional, and international sporting events. Sportswriter windows are located within the sportsbook, along with 27 self-serve betting kiosks.
The Event Center, a 25,000 square foot multipurpose grand hall and reception area, will host weddings and galas, conventions and expos, meetings and conferences?and headline performers. The Sound Bar, an intimate stage and lounge area, will host local bands, DJs, and more.
