St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign celebrates 20th anniversary

The St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign is celebrating 20 years of bringing together celebrities, businesses and consumers to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®.

The signature holiday campaign offers shoppers the chance to donate to St. Jude by making online and in-store donations or purchasing limited-edition products from the nation's top retailers. Funds raised help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food ? so they can focus on helping their child live.

"For two decades now, our community of partners and supporters has united around what has become a powerful holiday tradition," said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Thanks to them, St. Jude has been able to help more families celebrate the holidays together by advancing cures for pediatric cancer and other-life-threatening diseases."

Started in 2004, the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign echoes the founding of St. Jude by American entertainer Danny Thomas, who drew on his star power to raise funds to realize his dream of creating a children's research hospital that would treat children for free. Today, that work is carried on by his children Marlo, Tony and Terre and other celebrities such as Sofia Vergara, Michael Strahan and Luis Fonsi, who return this year as longtime celebrity supporters.

"We are so incredibly thankful for the kindness and generosity of our dedicated partners, celebrity friends and millions of compassionate supporters who all come together this holiday season to support the children of St. Jude," said Marlo Thomas, St. Jude National Outreach Director. "Their boundless support allows our doctors and scientists to continue their groundbreaking research which leads to lifesaving treatments so we can reach the day my father envisioned that no child would die in the dawn of life."

Thomas will appear on NBC's TODAY show beginning the Monday before Thanksgiving and each day that week with special segments featuring St. Jude patients' stories of hope, inspiration and survivorship.

Well-known brands like Best Buy, Domino's, Kay Jewelers, HomeGoods, Chili's, AutoZone, Williams-Sonoma, Inc., JOANN, Claire's, Kia, and Melting Pot will be joined this year by the campaign's newest partners: J. Crew Factory, American Freight, Enchanted Fairies, and Green Row.
