B Lab Co-Founder Bart Houlahan Joins Irrational Capital as Partner

Irrational Capital, an investment research firm focused on quantifying the impact of employee motivation and engagement on future equity returns, is pleased to announce that Bart Houlahan has joined the firm as Partner.

"We're thrilled to welcome Bart to Irrational Capital as we scale the business to meet the growing demand for our research insights and investment strategies," said David van Adelsberg, Co-Founder of Irrational Capital. "Bart is a well-respected leader and entrepreneur with deep experience in building impactful businesses with global brands from the ground up. As the co-founder of the B Corporation movement, he understands the importance human capital plays in driving business success and performance. We look forward to his contributions as a key member of our leadership team as we embark on our next stages of growth."

Houlahan has held a variety of distinguished leadership positions for more than two decades. As the co-founder of B Lab Global, the non-profit behind the B Corporation movement, Bart has helped drive economic systems change, creating standards, policies, tools, and programs for purpose-driven businesses. Prior to founding B Lab in 2006, Bart served as President and Chief Operating Officer at AND 1, a global basketball footwear and apparel brand. Bart is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, the winner of the 2014 Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and the 2022 Marion & John Kreamer Social Entrepreneur of the Year. He serves on a variety of Boards, including the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship at Duke University. His wife, Chrissy, serves in the US House of Representatives, representing the 6th District of Pennsylvania; they've been married for 34 years and have three grown daughters.

"I'm excited to join the team at Irrational Capital, an organization that shares my passion for the power and potential of human capital," said Houlahan. "Having seen firsthand the impact that a motivated, engaged team can have on corporate performance, I've always believed that ?doing the right thing pays.' Not surprisingly, organizations that treat their people well seem to materially outperform their peers in the equity markets. I look forward to helping a larger universe of investors understand and capture this overlooked source of alpha, and, hopefully, we can shift how companies treat and value their employees."
