Erin O'Malley Named Executive Director of the Coalition for Trust in Health & Science

The Coalition for Trust in Health & Science (CTHS) today announced the appointment of Erin O'Malley as executive director. The Coalition brings together leading organizations from across the health ecosystem to advance trustworthiness in health, medical care relationships and factual, science-backed, decision-making. It aims to significantly enhance the public's willingness ? and ability ? to apply evidence-backed information necessary to make the best personally appropriate health decisions for themselves, their families, and the communities in which they live and work.

"Ms. O'Malley's ability to work collaboratively with groups who have diverse interests in order to advance complex health-related initiatives was particularly noteworthy and made her standout during our selection process," said Reed Tuckson, MD, co-founder and board chair of the Coalition. "We are extremely pleased to have her with us at this critical time, when the need to support people in combatting distrust, misinformation, and disinformation about important health issues is at an all-time high."

O'Malley previously served as senior director of policy for America's Essential Hospitals. She will draw upon nearly two decades of experience in health affairs, strategic planning, policy and advocacy, partnership development, and managing public health campaigns as she leads CTHS in its urgent mission.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the timely and innovative work being done by this Coalition. In less than a year, CTHS has made incredible progress in bringing the nation's health and medical ecosystem together to address its increasingly important mission," O'Malley said. "Yet work remains to be done to ensure all people have the necessary information and tools to make informed health decisions for themselves, their families, and within their own communities."

The Coalition for Trust in Health & Science's vision is for all people to have equitable access to accurate, understandable, and relevant information necessary and feel confident in making personal health choices. Members pledge to support efforts to advance people's scientific and health literacy, earn public trust and improve health outcomes and health equity, and work individually and collectively to correct and counter misinformation that threatens people's health and well-being.
