CurvaFix, Inc., a developer of medical devices that deliver stable fixation for curved anatomy and poor bone quality, announced today the appointment of J. Kurt Jacobus, Ph.D., as the newest member of its Board of Directors.

Dr. Jacobus brings nearly two decades of leadership and expertise in the medtech industry. He is currently Chairman and CEO of restor3d, Inc., the leading provider of personalized orthopedic implants.

"We are delighted to welcome Kurt to CurvaFix's Board of Directors," said Mark Foster, CEO at CurvaFix. "His extensive experience and proven track record of success in the orthopedic medical device sector makes him an invaluable addition to our board. We look forward to leveraging his insights and guidance as we continue to innovate and advance minimally invasive pelvic fracture repair for both high-energy trauma and fragility fracture patients, leading to mobility restoration and improved quality of life."

Prior to his role at restor3d, Dr. Jacobus served as CEO of MedShape, Inc., an orthopedic medical device company delivering devices with sustained compression in foot and ankle surgeries. At MedShape, he led the company's growth and eventual acquisition by Enovis in 2021. He also co-founded Vertera Spine, Inc., a pioneering medical device company that was acquired by NuVasive, Inc. in 2017.

"I am honored to join CurvaFix's excellent Board of Directors," said Dr. Jacobus. "CurvaFix's commitment to fundamentally changing the course of care for elderly patients suffering with fragility fractures of the pelvis and pelvic fractures resulting from trauma is critical and important work, especially in such an overcrowded orthopedic industry. This truly novel technology demonstrates the potential for significant pain relief and faster mobility. I am excited to contribute to the company's continued success."

Dr. Jacobus earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his research focused on materials science and manufacturing processes. He also earned a Master's and Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
