The College of American Pathologists Names New Vice President of Education and Publications

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) announces its new vice president of Education and Publications. In this role, Tina Schwartz will oversee the development and implementation of educational initiatives and publications that support pathologists in their practices and professional growth.

"I am excited to lead our great team and continue developing outstanding educational options for our members and customers," said Ms. Schwartz. "Additionally, I believe there are exciting developments in technology that we can explore to create even more engaging, valuable, and efficient content in the future."

Ms. Schwartz joined the CAP in 2007 as a learning technology manager and has since advanced through various leadership roles, most recently serving as senior director of Education Delivery and Technology. Throughout her tenure, she has led significant CAP Learning projects, including the introduction of adaptive learning for inspector training and multiple Learning Management System implementations.

One of Ms. Schwartz's notable achievements was co-leading the shift of the CAP Annual Meeting to a virtual format in 2020 amid the global pandemic. This challenging transition, accomplished within a mere four months, resulted in a highly successful and well-attended event. Currently, she is spearheading the AI Adventure initiative within CAP Learning, a three-phase project designed to integrate AI tools into content creation and streamline operations. This initiative is aimed at equipping the team with the skills needed to leverage AI effectively.

"From swiftly transitioning the CAP Annual Meeting to a virtual platform during a global crisis to leading the cutting-edge AI Adventure initiative, I've embraced challenges and innovation at every turn," Ms. Schwartz explains. "Embracing calculated risks has been key to my learning and development, leading me to where I am today."

In her first six months as vice president, Ms. Schwartz plans to focus on completing her leadership team, better understanding the needs of CAP and its members through discussions with key stakeholders and developing a strategic roadmap for the coming years.

Before joining CAP, Tina worked at Hewitt Associates (now Aon) in internal Human Resources and as a portfolio manager in the HR outsourcing business. She holds a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in education.
